Description

In 2017, the authors set out to discover Toronto's international cuisine. Over twelve months, and without ever leaving the GTA, they dined at restaurants serving the cuisines of nationalities from A to Z. They started with Afghan food, and ended with Zimbabwean. They met with Syrian refugees, relaxed in a Russian bathhouse, drank tea with Yemenis, learned how to prepare Tibetan momos, and delighted in freshly baked Armenian pizza. Most of the restaurants they visited cost less than $10 per person for a healthy, delicious, kid-friendly meal and, more often than not, they were treated as honoured guests in the small, family-run businesses of Torontonians from all over the world. They discovered a world of new cuisines and, above all, they discovered their own city. This culinary adventure is inspirational, and proves that family-friendly dining can be fun, adventurous, healthy and delicious.
